A Rural Community Doesn’t have to be a remote one

Infrastructure

In the time since AOV adopted the village of Yaw Tenkorang, we have raised the quality of living by establishing a health clinic. We have provided greater accessibility to clean water by installing new wells and repairing existing ones. We have – through our engagement of the village – encouraged regional authorities in Abetifi to expedite the provision of electricity to the village. Still there is more to be done.

With sustainability always in mind, we are making comprehensive upgrades to the local clinic in order to establish a permanent healthcare service presence in the form of a state-sponsored healthcare professional who will serve the village full-time. Additionally, we plan in coming months to help the people of Yaw Tenkorang implement systems by which their wells can be consistently maintained. Lastly, in the long term, we hope to further partner with district and regional authorities to find solutions to the accessibility challenges that make it difficult to reach some of the most remote villages and provide the support they need.
